If these grounds could talk…
You’ve chosen a special, storied place to call home.
The great, great grandfather of Grover Cleveland, two-time president of the United States used to own this land. Then it was bought by the Hostermans, who used the stream flowing from Chocolate Lake to power the industries they built here.
In 1905, Gabriel Edmonds became the owner, transforming the area into luxury cottages for the wealthy, who came to escape the summer heat with the refreshing breezes and beautiful views of the Northwest Arm.
On December 6, 1917, the shaft of the anchor from the ill-fated ship Mont Blanc was hurled from the scene of the Halifax Explosion to this area, then called Edmonds Grounds. It still rests there today, close to the spot where it landed.
Regatta Point today
Residents of Spinnaker Arms enjoy living in a flourishing park-like setting on Halifax’s Regatta Point near the Northwest Arm, where the streets are extra quiet and often the only sound you hear is the birds.
Stroll the waterfront boardwalk and enjoy being surrounded by nature. It’s hard to believe the shopping, restaurants, and entertainment districts of Halifax are all just minutes away!
